Introduction
An AI research assistant that searches the web, reads your documents, and cites its sources.
MiniScira is a Next.js app wrapped around an eve agent. You ask a research question. The agent plans, searches, reads, and answers with citations, and you watch it happen step by step in a live timeline instead of staring at a spinner.
| Piece | What it does |
|---|---|
agent/ | The eve agent: tools, skills, a research subagent. Served at /eve/v1/*. |
components/ | Streaming transcript, research timeline, citation pills, artifacts. |
| Documents | Upload PDFs and text; the agent searches them with a lexical shortlist plus a reranker. |
| Projects | Custom instructions and a document set, scoped to a workspace. |
| Lookouts | Saved questions that re-run on a schedule and email you the result. |
| Auth + data | better-auth over Neon Postgres, Drizzle for schema and queries. |
Run it locally
You need Bun, a Neon database, and a Vercel AI Gateway key.
bun install
cp .env.example .env.localFill in AI_GATEWAY_API_KEY, DATABASE_URL, and BETTER_AUTH_SECRET. Those
three are the only hard requirements; everything else degrades gracefully when
unset. Then:
bun run db:setup
bun run db:push
bun run devbun run dev starts Next.js and the eve agent together. withEve() in
next.config.ts boots the agent beside next dev and rewrites /eve/v1/* to
it, so there is only ever one URL to open.
